Do girls really prefer older boys?
Growing up is complicated.
If you are a guy, you might be wondering if you’re invisible to the girls in class who are going gaga over the older boys.
If you are a girl, maybe boys your age just seem a little immature to you.
What’s going on here? Does age really matter?
Gender differences
Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. That might sound like an exaggeration, but there are differences between boys and girls, especially during puberty.
Girls tend to mature earlier than boys, both physically and emotionally. Generally, girls go through puberty from age 9 to 14 while boys only start at 10 or later.
This is why in the earlier years girls may tower over boys their age, and show a liking for older boys who can match them in emotional maturity. Girls and boys of the same age may feel out of place with each other.
However this difference is temporary. As they grow older, boys will catch up and be just as mature as girls. So, 
when it comes to choosing your boyfriend or girlfriend, there are other more important things to think about besides the age difference.
Compatibility – Sometimes you are most compatible with someone who shares the same interests. Other times opposites attract!
Personality – Having a pleasant personality will attract the opposite sex more than just having the 'right' age. There is no point dating an older guy who does not know how to treat girls right, is there?
Goals – A relationship works when both your goals and ideals in life are in line with each other.
The important thing is to talk to each other and enjoy each other’s company! Dating someone just because of age does not always guarantee a perfect relationship.
